About this Talk

Ms Deb Rawlings, Academic and Researcher in Palliative Care at Flinders University Deb is a nurse who has worked clinically for many years in oncology and palliative care. She has worked on four Commonwealth funded projects, including End of Life Essentials on which she is a co-investigator.

During this lunchtime session Deb will discuss with Dr Tony Lembke (Chair qiCommunity) what needs to be considered when caring for patients with life-limiting chronic complex illnesses. She will share evidence based information to support health professionals with instigating end-of-life conversations, as well as self-care strategies for the health care team.

During this session you will: recognise that those living with chronic complex conditions have a life-limiting illness. recognise the need to discuss end of life concepts with families, patients and staff in order to enhance care. analyse the potential for self-care within end-of-life care in fast paced environments and appreciate the strength of effective teamwork.
